Over 95 million years ago, in what is today the Moroccan Sahara, one of the most unusual dinosaurs frolicked across the land and hunted in the mighty river systems. Morocco may be a desert today, but it was once a lush grassland brimming with fantastic beasts including the Spinosaurus, a creature of truly preposterous proportions. This thing could grow to be nearly 50 feet (15m) in length with a weight of 7 tons (6.4 tonne). It had a snout like a crocodile, a large sail on its back, and conical teeth that it used to rip apart its prey. It was a top predator – but new information has changed the way scientists look at this titanic monster.
