Just recently, information came from the supertest about the release of a new heavy American premium tank, so now here is the T26E5 guide for World of Tanks.
As you can see in the picture above, this unit is another prototype of the familiar Pershing, however, the T26E5 hull and turret armor characteristics have become more serious, and we will now find out how serious these changes are.
The tank has a twin brother, the T26E5 Patriot. It differs only in the presence of an exclusive style.
Let's start with the fact that we have a good, but absolutely typical safety margin for an eighth-level heavyweight, as well as not the best, but quite decent basic visibility of 390 meters.
If we consider the T26E5 TTX armor in the form in which they are now, we can immediately say that the armor has become much thicker. Our heavy gun received a fairly strong turret with a huge gun mantlet, and perhaps it is not a cast-iron plate, like its brother T32, but it should withstand a blow.
Regarding the body, although the VLD T26E5 World of Tanks boasts a fairly decent thickness of the plate, the angle of inclination of this element is not very good. Most likely, it will be possible to quite confidently hold off the attacks of our classmates, of course, with additional rotation of the hull, but tanks of the 9th and 10th levels should penetrate us without any problems.
As for the sides, it is better to hide them or show them at a very sharp angle; the thickness of the armor in these places is small, but there is a chance that the damage will eat the gusli. However, in update 0.9.17 we added armor on the sides of the turret (screenshot below), which is also very nice, but still try not to expose the hull.
The last thing worth mentioning in terms of general characteristics is mobility. The screenshot shows that the heavy tank T26E5 World of Tanks received a good maximum speed when moving both forward and backward, but our heavy tank will have serious problems with the dynamics, even 11 horsepower per ton of weight is not the best indicator, and it spins in place we won't be very fast.
In terms of weapons, everything is quite familiar, we have a 90 mm cannon on board, similar to the one on the T26E4 Super Pershing, but our barrel will be better.
So, the T26E5 gun has the alpha strike standard for most tier 8 premiums, however, here we are pleasantly surprised by the DPM amounting to approximately 1900 units of damage per minute.
If you pay attention to the armor penetration parameters, they are also very worthy. With this characteristic, the T26E5 World of Tanks has significantly surpassed the Super Pershing, and even the regular US heavy T32 lags behind; for premium equipment, such results are the ultimate dream. Of course, there is no preferential level of battles, but with such penetration it is not needed; this unit can confidently be called an excellent farmer.
Regarding accuracy, everything is relative. If the dispersion at 100 meters in our case is still quite good, then the T26E5 tank is reduced to World of Tanks for a long time and the stabilization is rather weak. We are very pleased with the excellent vertical aiming angles, the gun tilts down by 10 degrees and this gives us the opportunity to play perfectly from a strong turret.
Advantages and disadvantages of T26E5
Pros:
•Good frontal armor (especially in the turret);
•Decent basic overview;
•Good CSA;
•Good armor penetration parameters;
•Comfortable vertical aiming angles.
Minuses:
•Mediocre mobility;
•Small one-time damage;
•Weak accuracy;
•Not a preferential level of battles.
Since this unit has not yet reached the masses, it is difficult to talk about its use in battle, however, general advice can be given and most likely it will be effective, because there are similar tanks in our game.
