As part of our Lunch and Learn series, film and audiovisual archivist Christopher Nicols took us into the "vaults" of our audiovisual collections to explore New York City history as seen through the WNYC-TV video collection and surveillance films captured by the New York Police Department (NYPD). This event explored the socio-economic challenges affecting our city during historic times. Some of the topics covered in these collections include civil rights and segregation, the Vietnam War, the HIV/AIDS crisis, local elections, crime, gay and lesbian rights, and much more. This event was recorded on July 13, 2021.
