Time dilation and length contraction are fundamental and the most important concepts in Einstein's Theory Of Special relativity. Special relativity, proposed by Albert Einstein in 1905, fundamentally altered and enhanced our understanding of space and time, showing how they are actually interconnected and can change with respect to the observer's motion.
Einstein in his Theory Of Relativity discovered that time can go slower or faster depending on how you or the observer moves. He also simplified that the distance between two things can change depending on how you're moving. Time dilation refers to the phenomenon where time appears to pass differently for observers in relative motion, while length contraction involves the shortening of objects along the direction of motion as perceived by a moving observer. These concepts are key implications of special relativity theory and have been experimentally confirmed in various ways.
