SpaceX continues to scale up its facilities in Texas to build and launch Starship vehicles. The company recently completed a wet dress rehearsal on May 20, filling the vehicle with propellants and conducting a practice countdown. This rehearsal was one of the final milestones before SpaceX attempts a launch, and it demonstrated the company's commitment to rigorous testing and preparation.
Before the launch can occur, SpaceX needs to secure an updated Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launch license. According to Kathy Lueders, General Manager of Starbase and former NASA Associate Administrator, the company is working closely with the FAA to obtain the necessary license modification. Lueders expressed hope that the license will be issued by the end of May or early June, with the launch occurring shortly thereafter.
