Three years since I left Japan. Three years and countless hours of deep digging into myself - my sense of self - and in grinding through this healing journey. Where has it taken me? And, has it taken me too far? At what point does healing become…unhealthy?
I think you saw how unhealthy I got at one point. I had a very challenging relationship with food post-Covid, and I've slowly, very slowly, been finding a way to get comfortable with what was once a big part of me, to integrate with the parts of me that I was rejecting.
But this video isn't about that. I’m going to talk about my spiritual journey, how it’s helped me, and the parts where it has not only hurt me, but also hurt those around me. Healing isn’t a binary, going from unhealthy to healthy; healing is a spectrum, and if you do too much of it, you can end up just as unhealthy as you were before.
If you’re more interested in food and travel, though, great! I'm excited about it again! I’ve got two more videos in the works. My What to Eat in Lisbon guide is filmed, and now in the editing process, and we’re filming another great food video this week as well. I hope you like them when they're ready. Back to showing you great spots to add to your list of where to eat in Lisbon and Portugal.
Much thanks to Christopher Michael @camcat for being such a huge part of this process. If you’re in Portugal and you need a film/editing guy who knows his shit, ping Camcat.pt.
Also, for those of you on the path, I’d like to share a small map of the woods I’ve walked through, and at what point I found my way out. The only way out is through. I’m working on a short book as well, which will go up on my Patreon in the coming months. I’m more than 50% done the project, which is going in a direction that I haven’t heard any of the wellness community talk about yet, except in brief passing. I’ve put together a lot of the different ideas I gathered from the many different modalities of therapy I’ve experienced and studied, different aspects of the mystic side of Buddhism, neuroscience and psychology, linguistics and emotions, longevity and health, and more.
