In this UE4 tutorial we'll learn how to create a first person controller from scratch using C++!
Most people create their character's control using blueprints, but I personally think that's a poor practice.
Why is that? Most axis nodes act just like event ticks (meaning that they're called every frame) and that way you lose performance. Doing it in C++ is not only better for the performance, but it's just as easy as it is in blueprints.
This video will cover mouse movement input, keyboard movement input and normal keyboard actions, both on release and on press.
This video is targeted only to keyboard and mouse users, any kind of gamepad or other input system will not work with this tutorial.
(But in the future I will make a tutorial for gamepads as well)
