Welcome back everyone!
Today’s video takes us to Waterbury, Connecticut
On December 13th, 2022. Officer James Hinkle was directing traffic at an intersection due to a mechanical failure of the traffic lights.
While directing traffic, a vehicle proceeded through the intersection.
Although officer Hinkle provided commands to the vehicle to stop, as you will see in the video.
The command was not the most evident and did not warrant the type of reaction that officer Hinkle gave to the driver.
The interaction between officer Hinkle and the driver of the vehicle initiated an internal affairs investigation into the actions and conduct of the officer.
This investigation eventually led to the termination of this officer.
Watch this interaction and let me know your thoughts below in the comment section.
Hinkle appeared to slap the driver's side mirror with his hand as the vehicle passed him.
This is important information because during the investigation, it was found that Hinkle lied on the report.
He had stated on the report that his hand was struck by the vehicle, causing an injury.
The incident initiated an Internal Affairs investigation to look at Hinkle's actions and conduct with the driver, after a complaint was filed by one of his own supervisors.
He was immediately placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
On January 9th of this year, James Hinkle was fired by the Waterbury police department as a result of the investigation.
The police chief spoke about the incident and stated that his conduct during this encounter with a citizen of the community is unacceptable and not representative of the men and women serving the Waterbury Police Department.
The driver was ticketed at the scene. But this ticket was later taken back.
