Yes, HR is there to support and help you but we need your input too! You can’t come to HR and ask for a training recommendation without having having these 2 important things:
strong intention to develop yourself
rough idea about your development area or intention in your head. For HR to recommend, you need to give us data. A lot of data. The 3 main sources of your training needs are market trends & how can you adapt to them, your last performance discussion with your manager and analysis of your work mistakes. What are your thoughts?
