RUN AT FULL HEART!
To those of you who have never run before it may seem that only legs and feet are involved in the process. This is what non-runners usually think…until they are out of breath. The typical beginner´s “Enough! Can´t do it anymore” has little to do with legs, because in fact we run with our heart. And this video will explain you why.
A human body has a cardiovascular system, that conveys blood through vessels and delivers nutrients and oxygen to all its parts and tissues, carrying away what cells do not need any more: carbon dioxide (CO2) and other wastes.
Blood can be compared to trucks at a construction site: they bring building materials and remove construction waste. Heavy breathing in new runners is caused by the lack of oxygen in the muscles.
In our “winter running” video, we explained that during training only 10% of the total lung capacity is used. This means that the “bottle neck” is somewhere in our cardiovascular system, responsible for the delivery of oxygen to the muscles.
So, let´s go by parts and start with learning a couple of general facts about our heart.
